THIS. I want to see more actors and actresses saying “NO”. I won’t play that stereotypical role. I won’t be here to amuse you just because I am Asian/Aboriginal/Fat/Gay/etc. I will take a role that isn’t just slapstick and making fun of me for what makes me unique. I will take a role because it is GOOD ROLE.

Peter Dinklage is a hero in this regard. He tries to avoid roles that cast him just to be a person of his height. He takes roles in Penelope, 30 Rock, and Game of Thrones (and etc) that his height is obviously a part of, but not the be-all-and-end-all of his character. And he is badass for it.

This is why I get upset when I see “talented Korean actor” or Melissa McCarthy/Rebel Wilson being cast as the “fat chick” or “comic relief”. You are more than what they see. Act it.
